What are the maintenance and calibration methods for manual pipette tips?

Mar 20,2024

Maintenance and calibration of manual pipette tips are important steps to ensure pipetting accuracy and extend pipette life. Here are some tips for maintaining and calibrating manual pipette tips:
Maintenance method:
After each use: Try to adjust the pipette range to the maximum scale to keep the spring in a relaxed state to protect the spring.
Regular cleaning: It is best to clean the pipette regularly. You can clean it with soapy water or 60% isopropyl alcohol, then clean it with distilled water and let it dry naturally. This helps remove stains and residue that may have accumulated, keeping the pipette clean.
High temperature sterilization: If the pipette needs to be sterilized by high temperature, you should first confirm whether the pipette is suitable for high temperature to avoid damage caused by high temperature.
Check the sealing condition: Check the sealing condition of the pipette regularly. Once the seal is found to be aging or leaking, the sealing ring must be replaced in time to prevent leakage problems.
Calibration method:
Using the balance: Calibrate by repeating the method of weighing distilled water several times in an environment of 20~25℃. After the suction head repeatedly draws ultrapure water three times, draw a fixed volume of ultrapure water and push it into a small-mouth container placed on the balance. After the data is stable, read the balance value and record the temperature at the same time. After repeating several times, use the relevant calculation formula to obtain the volume at the corresponding temperature and obtain a uniform value.
Use special tools: You can use a special calibration wrench for the pipette, adjust it through the calibration window of the pipette, and perform calibration according to the direction of the measurement point.
Use calibration instruments: Use special calibration instruments such as SmartCheck Pipette Verifier. These instruments can complete the calibration of pipettes in a shorter time and improve the accuracy and efficiency of calibration.
Please note that for both maintenance and calibration, the instructions for use of the pipette and the guidance provided by the manufacturer should be followed. If you encounter any problems during use or are not sure how to operate, it is recommended to contact the manufacturer or professional after-sales customer service for consultation and guidance.
